| Namaste and Vanakkam. Happy Diwali season to all. Even as we do an early kick off to the traditional holiday season in North America, I wish that as a country we can also embrace collaboration and get the workings in all spheres of life back on track. On our home front, some devotees continue to have a challenge visiting the Wahiawa Shiva Temple. Without regular and daily presence of our devotees at the temple site, we will continue to face the challenge of the premises being used by houseless individuals. Volunteers went and cleaned up temple a month ago but monthly visits are not going to be enough for us to claim that space for ourselves for worship. I make this public appeal to get creative and feasible ideas for us to be able meaningfully use this space for on demand worship. Please make your suggestion through our website or email lotushonolulu@gmail.com. The cooler months are upon us and so are the increase in case of respiratory illness. At a minimum please take the flu shot and practice good practices such as good hand washing and avoiding crowded places and certainly sheltering yourself at home if not feeling well. LOTUS sponsored Diwali celebration will be on November 9th at the Campus Center Ballroom at the UH Manoa Campus. A few tickets remain, so to avoid disappointment please get them soon through our website. I hope to see many of you there on the 9th. Warm aloha, V. Temple Activities – October 19th, 2025 Our monthly pooja will start promptly at noon on the 19th with Prof Bhawuk officiating with assistance from Arup. We hope to finish the pooja at 2.15 pm followed by a community sponsored potluck celebrating Diwali. Hope to see you all there. October and November 2025: October 18 – Dhanteras October 19 – Wahiawa Shiva Temple Pooja Day October 20 – Diwali and Lakshmi Pooja October 22 – Bhau Bheej November 16 – Wahiawa Shiva Temple Pooja Day November 16 – Mandalakala begins |
