Newsletter – June 2023

The Year 2023 is progressing rapidly and the half year mark will soon be passed. We are in the beginning of both a hot summer season and the Pacific Hurricane Season.  Both of these do require us to take proper precautions to tackle safely.  Please make sure that you and your loved ones stay well hydrated and well protected from overheating.  On the home front, please be sure that you are adequately stocked with needs and provisions for at least two weeks. As an island community, we spook easily as seen by the run on toilet paper from all stores last week.

Sundari and I went on a brief visit to India and essentially spent most of time with family and catching up with friends. As we age, this continued reach out and close interaction is both fulfilling and recharging.  We bring back greetings from Sankaran and Shyamala, long time associates of LOTUS. Dr. Sankaran donated the “Nandi” over 10 year ago – this is the one that we still use in our monthly Poojas’ our trip we attended the 70th birthday of my brother celebrated in traditional fashion over two days and the chanting of Rudram and Anna Danam from Brahmins.  These traditions are both nostalgic and re-invigorating.

Back to Oahu, we have met with contractors for much needed planning of renovations to the Temple premises.  We anticipate doing this work in the next several months. We would appreciate targeted donation for this project which we are currently estimating to cost around $12000.  Please use this direct link for the donation.

I hope to see you personally at the Temple on the 18th at noon.  This also happens to be Father’s Day – what a nice way for us to honor the Father’s in our families.

Warm aloha
