Newsletter – February 2020
It is a pleasure to welcome you to the LOTUS website. It is my sincere hope that this forum will sow the bonds to get the community together to plan on meaningful cultural, volunteer and other community partnership activities.
Your new board is both excited at this opportunity to work with the community and come up with an agenda which is meaningful to one and all. Even as we spread our wings, I would also encourage all to visit the Shiva Temple on California Avenue in Wahiawa as this is the meeting place that fostered the origins of this organization a little over 30 years ago.
Our first community engagement activity in addition to the Pooja at the Temple on third Sundays will be the Holi celebration at the adjoining park to the Temple in Wahiawa on March 15th after lunch between 3-3.30 PM. We are also working towards organizing an open house on the fourth Sunday of April to coincide with the annual celebrations of the establishment of LOTUS.
We are actively looking for volunteers in many spheres. Someone to do the rounds of the temple at least fortnightly and make sure its grounds are clean. We also would like to get volunteers to help with the putting up on the tent for the pooja on the third Sunday in the morning around 7:30.
I also take this opportunity to thank two individuals who have stepped forward to help. Nagasundaravalli Ramakrishnan (Sundari) has kindly volunteered to manage our website and Ishita Shah has kindly volunteered to advise on filing of annual returns and tax matters.
For us to be successful, in addition to active community engagement, we also need for you to support the organization financially. So please do donate generously as this will help guide us in the identification of activities that we can embark on for community benefit.
As a community non-profit organization, you all in the community are the true members that we as the Board of Directors are accountable to and we hope to discharge these duties this coming year faithfully.
With Warm aloha and greetings for a safe and productive 2020.
