Lotus Hawaii – Wahiawa Temple
Dear LOTUS Ohana:
On behalf of the Board, this email addresses the issues of use and cleanliness of the Temple and the activities around it.
As we have discussed in the past, LOTUS was established in part to support the community in having monthly events at the site of the Original Healing Stone in Wahiawa which is the current site of our Shiva Lingam at 108 California Ave, Wahiawa, HI. The Temple premise is a typical roadside structure reminiscent of the numerous temples that are in various communities in India. The big difference is that the Wahiawa temple is open to one and all and does not have a dedicated 24×7 poojari or even a regular committed individual who will keep the temple premises clean.
For individuals and families who visit the temple and do pooja, my sincere request is to clean up the altar and not leave any perishables while leaving. Similarly do not leave behind any open flames while leaving. This will go a long way in us maintaining the cleanliness of the Temple for the benefit of the rest of the community. We have also noticed individuals dropping off boxes of books and framed photos. If people in the community feel that they would like to donate, then the appropriate way to do it would be to call the LOTUS leadership and have a discussion about it.
If you do visit the temple and find it in need of cleaning and have no means to do it, I would appreciate a call to 808-625-9844 (Balaraman Residence) and we will happily work on getting the place cleaned up in the next 24 hours. As users of this place of worship, I would hope that all of us are committed to help keep this sanctum clean. I welcome suggestions from the community for other ways to keep our temple premises clean.
Once again I take this opportunity to wish all of you safe holidays and Best wishes for the coming New Year.
Warm aloha and Stay Safe,
V. Balaraman, President
On Behalf of The LOTUS Board
